Group KPMG: Real fraud investigation case transformed into a case study | KPMG Austria (H16c, ground floor)
The Austrian Head Office of a corporation with branches all over the world receives detailed information from a whistleblower. The whistleblower's letter makes allegations against the management of a major subsidiary. KPMG was asked, together with Internal Audit, how to respond. In the case study, various methods for investigating suspected fraud are worked out together with the students. For each phase of the investigation, there is a discussion of how to proceed based on what was learned in the previous steps. The underlying case was investigated over a 9-month period. The KPMG team presents the original whistleblower letter (anonymized), guides through the case and provides deep insights into how they conducted this complex investigation in Austria and abroad.
Group PwC: Project "Picasso" – Wanted by PwC | PwC Austria (H15c, 4th floor)
In this workshop you will learn how to do the annual audit and how to conduct interviews with the relevant people to get more information about relevant accounting practices. Furthermore, you will become part of the Forensics team for one afternoon and learn how to search secured databases (like laptops, cell phones, etc.) for evidence of fraudulent activities. You will also experience fraudulent attacks live and support the PwC Forensics team in solving the case.
